Hello, I'm Grant Goulet, founder of and primary contributor to Path(less). I was born and raised in London, Ontario, Canada, and after stints in Ann Arbor, Portland (OR), and Detroit, recently landed in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

My educational path includes a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical & Materials Engineering (Western University), PhD in Biomedical Engineering (University of Calgary), and postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery (University of Michigan).

Professionally, I was Research Faculty at The University of Michigan; Director of Sport Science at Adidas; Vice President of Product Innovation at Xenith; Managing Director at RHEON Labs, a material science and technology start-up in London, UK; and, most recently, advising and consulting primarily within business and product strategy & development, leadership, and organizational transformation.

I've traveled extensively, both professionally and personally, with residential stints in Berlin, Germany, and Taipei, Taiwan. Currently, much of my travel is in service of trail ultra-running, where I compete in distances from 50-km to 100-mi. Running, for me, is a practice, a way of life, and a fascinating exploration of physical and psychological limits.

I'm a student of the perennial wisdom woven throughout spiritual traditions. I'm captivated by philosophy of mind, metaphysics (analytic idealism), consciousness, and Zen (Ch'an) Buddhism. It’s in their integration into modern life that I see the greatest opportunity for individual, societal, and planetary flourishing.

My ambitions are firmly pointed at being a better citizen of the world ('better' because it's about constant improvement and not a point of arrival). This is informed and led by values of curiosity, creativity, compassion, and community.

An expression of this comes in the form of end-of-life care. I'm actively involved in hospice programs, providing patients and their family and friends with companionship and physical, emotional, and spiritual support during the final stages of life.

I'm pictured, below, with my partner, textile artist, Kayla Powers, and our companion, Maple. We're often on the move together in our tiny home on wheels.

The Path(less) project is a synthesis and a sharing of the insights, materials, and aspects of life that most capture my attention and serve to illuminate this pathless path through the great mystery of life. I hope something within it stimulates your curiosity and creativity.
